For a long time after 2015 floods in Kendal, abandoned houses were left open to the elements. In recent visits to rural Ireland the many empty houses are everywhere. Homes and contents just left. Broken windows with torn and flapping net curtains evoke sadness but also intrigue about the story of the inhabitants.
